In our first
article we spoke about raw food and juicing in general and fruit/vegetable combinations. In this second part we present to you the most healthy, simply, and amazing Raw Juicing Recipes.

NATURE CURES HEALTHY JUICING RECIPES

Imagination can be used to make blends that suit the palate and ailment, but below are some recipes to get started with:

Live probiotic yoghurt can be added to juices after they are made to make a creamy smoothie.

Apple cider vinegar has amazing medicinal properties and can also be added to juices as can honey, if juice is too sour.

Adding unrefined sea salt and black pepper can provide more nutrients and minerals as well as taste.

Purchase a powerful ‘slow’ juicer (minimum 900 watts) to get the most from vegetables and drink juices immediately for optimum nutritional value.

Always wash vegetables and herbs before juicing.

Skins can be left on most vegetables (except hard rinds on pumpkins etc) but remove any large stones such as avocado, apricot, peach etc.

Chopping vegetables, fruits and herbs can help them pass through the juicer more effectively.

Juice the ingredients in the order they are listed. Harder vegetables like celery and cucumber, help flush the fibres of the leafy greens through the juicer.

Stir spices and liquids, such as coconut juice or apple cider vinegar, into the juice afterwards.

Wash the juicer parts immediately to stop the pulp drying hard.

Red Power Cleansing Juice
Beetroots possess betacyanin which gives them their deep red colour and provides the essential ingredient which can assist the body with recovery from many ailments. It stops the spread of cancer tumours. Prevents diseases of liver, kidney and pancreas and treats ulcers in the stomach. Strengthens the immune system. Improves the vision, good for eye redness treatment. Reduces pain after intense physical training. Eliminates hard stool, positively affects the colon. Strengthens the lungs. Regulates high blood pressure. Improves bad breath which occurs due to indigestion of food. Helps treat acne and creates healthy skin. Reduces menstrual pain.

  • 1 beetroot
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 apple
  • 1 lemon

Wash and chop the ingredients before placing in a juicer of at least 900 watts then drink immediately. Do this three times a day for maximum benefit.

Cleansing Recipe 1
To alkalise the body and boost the immune system

1/2 inch of ginger
1/4 cantaloupe melon
1 bunch of watercress
1 handful of parsley
Half a lime

Cleansing Recipe 2
Detoxifier, immune booster, pick me up and can improve iron absorption especially for those suffering with anaemia

1/2 inch of ginger
1 beetroot
1/2 apple
1 cucumber
2 stalks of celery

Cleansing Recipe 3
Nutrient rich cleanser to boost the immune system

2 carrots
3 celery stalks
1 apple
1 beetroot and green tops
1 avocado (stone removed)
1/2 lemon
1/2 inch of ginger
Handful of parsley
Handful of coriander

Cleansing and Rehydrating Juice
When the body is dehydrated, especially after intense exercise, diarrhoea, fever or alcohol consumption, pineapple can fix it quickly.

1/4 fresh pineapple
1 stalk of celery
1/2 cucumber
1/2 lemon
1 handfuls of spinach

Liver Tonic
To detoxify the liver drink this juice daily first thing in the morning.

1 cucumber
1 tomato
2 stalks celery
2 leaves kale
Handful basil
1 lemon
Pinch cayenne pepper

Immune System and Liver Booster

1/2 fresh pineapple
1.2 cauliflower
1/4 teaspoon turmeric

Liver Cleanser
To detoxify the liver drink this juice daily first thing in the morning. Stir in warmed mineral water, honey, apple cider vinegar and spices

2 handfuls of spinach
Small handful of rosemary
1.2 cucumber
1/2 lemon
1 stalk celery

Then stir in:
2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar
1/4 teaspoon turmeric
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
Pinch of cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon honey in a cup of warmed mineral water

Liver Cleanser 2
To detoxify the liver drink this juice daily first thing in the morning.

Handful lettuce
Handful kale
Handful parsley
1 cucumber
1 lemon
2 stalks celery
Then stir in milk thistle

Liver, Bladder and Kidney Cleanser
To help burn fat, detoxify and clean urinary system.

1 dandelion root
Handful basil
1 beetroot + green top
1 apple
2 carrots
1 stalk celery

Cleansing and Alkalizing Juice

Handful parsley
Handful basil
1 apple
1 carrot
1 avocado (stone removed)
1 lemon
1 cucumber
3 stalks celery

Green Power Cleanse
This green power blend is rich in chlorophyll, which helps support the digestive tract and promote healthy intestinal function. This action is supported by both oregano and basil. Dandelion leaves, spinach and courgette stimulate the kidney function, carrot nourishes the liver. All of the ingredients have cleansing and rejuvenating action. Avocado helps the absorption of the fat-soluble carotenoids in carrots.

10 dandelion leaves
6 stems oregano
2 fennel leaves
Handful fresh spinach leaves
1 small carrot
1 small courgette
1 avocado (stone removed)
2 stalks celery

Sleep Enhancing Recipe
The high magnesium content in spinach, and the nerve-calming properties in celery helps to improve sleep quality.

2 green apples
Handful of spinach
3 ribs of celery
Handful of sour cherries
Handful of mint leaves
Handful of chamomile leaves
½ lime
½ inch ginger

Spicy Avocado and Tomato
The monounsaturated fat in avocado helps absorption of the fat soluble and cancer fighting carotenoids lycopene in tomatoes making it 4 times as effective.

4 medium tomatoes (or 10 baby tomatoes)
1 avocado pear
1/2 lemon
Handful of fresh basil and/or parsley leaves
Pinch of Cayenne chilli pepper powder
Black pepper

Method

1. Wash and dry vegetables and herbs

2. Remove the avocado stone.

3. Juice, stir in chilli and black pepper and drink immediately

Other sources of lycopene are apricots, asparagus, basil, chilli peppers, grapefruit, (pink), guava, papaya, parsley, persimmons, red cabbage, rosehips and watermelon.

NOTE: Avoid grapefruit if  taking ‘Statins’ to lower cholesterol or medications for blood pressure & some other medications.

Wheatgrass and lemon balm
This will purify the body and relax the mind. Wheat grass is traditional ingredient for serious detoxification and rejuvenating regimes, it is well worth growing your own but the web has plenty of suppliers of organic wheat grass and wheat grass seed suppliers. Dandelion supports the elimination through increased urination and fennel through stimulating the lung function and clearing the phlegm. Thread like fennel leaves also enhance the sweet flavour provided by the wheat grass. Lemon balm and perfumed rose petals relax the mind sharpen ability to think and soothe the heart.

Ingredients

Wheat grass blades (approx ¼ of a tray)
6 dandelion leaves
2 fennel leaves
5 lemon balm stems (cut the top 20 cm, it is a softer part of the stems off a well established plant)
3 damask rose heads, petals only (choose a pesticide/herbicide free source)
A small chunk of a lemon with peel on

Method

  1. Use scissors to cut the wheatgrass blades from the tray just above the planting surface.

  2. Remove the petals from the rose heads.

  3. Wash and drip-dry the herbs.

  4. Cut off a quarter of a small size lemon, keeping the skin on.

  5. Put all ingredients through the juicer and drink immediately.

NOTE: Anyone suffering from a serious medical condition or on medication or pregnant should not attempt raw juice therapy without consulting their doctor.

If preferred raw fruits can be placed in a blender to create ‘smoothies’. Live probiotic yoghurt can be added with honey, coconut milk, nutmeg and cinnamon

Vegetables can be lightly steamed then blended with herbs and spices to create a potage type soup. Serve a small bowl of soup before each meal.

Green Power Iron Juice 1
Full of vitamin C and iron for healthy blood.
Avocado helps the absorption of the carotenoids in carrots.

3 kale leaves
2 collard green leaves
Handful of parsley
1 avocado (stone removed)
3 carrots
1 pear
1/2 green bell pepper

Red Power Iron Juice 2
Rich in iron, vitamin B9 (folic acid), vitamin C, Vitamin E and magnesium.
Avocado helps the absorption of the carotenoids.

1 beetroot
1 red apple
Handful of broccoli tops
2 kale leaves
Handful of radishes and leaves
1 avocado (stone removed)
2 carrots

Aloe Green High Nutrient Juice
Aloe boosts the immune system, reduces inflammation, improves skin health, stabilises blood sugar levels in diabetics, lowers LDL cholesterol and triglycerides and amplifies the antioxidant effects of vitamins. This is also a great juice for the relief of heartburn and for vegans as it contains vitamin B12.

1/2 inch of ginger
1 fennel bulb
2 kale leaves
2 carrots
1 apple
1 lemon
5 stalks of celery

3 inches of aloe vera gel or 4 oz of aloe vera juice and 1 teaspoon of barley grass powder (added after juicing the other ingredients)

High Potassium Juice
After juicing the ingredients below place in a blender and add 2 bananas

Handful of parsley
Handful of spinach
1 avocado (stone removed)
1 celery
4 carrots
1 apple
1/2 lemon

Cholesterol Lowering Juice
This can lower the LDL cholesterol without the use of garlic.

1/2 inch of ginger
1 avocado (stone removed)
1 pomegranate (cut in half and scoop insides into the juicer)
1 apple
3 carrots

Berry Juice
Cleans lungs and urinary tract of infection and congestion and good for the skin

Handful of strawberries
Handful of cranberries
Handful of blueberries
1 apple

Bladder stone, Gall Stone and Kidney Stone Remover
Drink this juice 3-4 times per day. Also drink 1 the juice of a lemon in 1 cup of hot water 3-5 times a day

1 avocado (stone removed)
3 carrots
1/2 cucumber

Colon Cleanser Juice 1
For the relief of constipation.

14 fresh figs
2 apples
1 rhubarb stalk

Colon Cleanser Juice 2
For the relief of constipation and elimination of parasites

1 papaya
10 carrots
1 coconut (remove flesh from shell and juice then stir in the coconut juice)

1 tablespoon of psyllium husks (added after juicing the other ingredients)

Heart, Colon and Prostate Protector
Kale a rich source of carotene, indoles, vitamin A, vitamin C, the B vitamins, vitamin K, calcium, iron and together with the other ingredients can prevent heart, colon and prostate disorders.

Large handful of watercress
Handful coriander leaves
1 avocado (stone removed)

1 red bell pepper

4 kale leaves
1/2 broccoli with stems
1/2 cabbage with stems
3 carrots
1 avocado (stone removed)

Anti-inflammatory Pain Relief Smoothie

Handful of sour cherries
5-8 basil leaves
1 inch of ginger
2 sticks of celery
1 coconut (remove flesh from shell and juice then stir in the coconut juice)

1 tablespoon of ground flax, hemp or chia seeds and a pinch of cinnamon (added after juicing the other ingredients)
