President Trump made Americans so proud during his first address to Congress. He spoke from the heart and impressed the nation. He gave a message of unity with lines like,
“True love for our people requires us to find common ground, to advance the common good, and to cooperate on behalf of every American child who deserves a brighter future.”
There was one moment, however, that made the entire country tear up.
President Trump recognized Carryn Owens — the wife of Navy SEAL William “Ryan” Owens, who was killed in Yemen — during his speech to Congress on Tuesday.
The applause for Owens went on for longer than 2 minutes.
“We are blessed to be joined tonight by Carryn Owens, the widow of a U.S. Navy Special Operator, Senior Chief William ‘Ryan’ Owens,”
Trump said. “Ryan died as he lived: a warrior, and a hero –- battling against terrorism and securing our nation.”
At one point, Carryn Owen pointed to heaven as she cried for the husband she lost.
Trump went on to say,
“Ryan’s legacy is etched into eternity. For as the Bible teaches us, there is no greater act of love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. Ryan laid down his life for his friends, for his country, and for our freedom –- we will never forget him.”
President Trump has a love for our military that can’t be ignored. God Bless our president and God bless our Military and their families who sacrifice so much for our freedom.
