Fungal nail infections (onychomycosis) is a disease in which fungi cause damage and deterioration of the nail. Usually, the disease occurs on the side parts of the nail and leads to discoloration of the nail, which becomes thicker, and yellow and begins to pull away from the nail bed.
Gradually, the fungal infection spreads and covers a larger part of the nail. In some cases, fungal infections of the nail can be painful, especially while person walking.
The diagnosis of fungal nail infections is done on the basis of the appearance of the nail and is easier than the treatment, which requires a lot of patience. Without treatment, the condition generally worsens, and the infection can spread to other nails and even transferred to another person.
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
Fungal nail infections are more common on the toes than on fingers and are mainly a cosmetic problem. Signs and symptoms include:
– discoloration of the nail – the nail becomes yellow, whitish or greenish;
– becomes thickened, distorted and fragile.
Pieces of the destroyed nail collects under the healthy part of the nail and finally the entire nail may detach from the finger.
Fungal infections are common in older people. This is because after 40 years, and nails grow more slowly and are less resistant to infection. There is a greater risk of developing a fungal infection on your toes if your feet sweat heavily, and if you wear socks and shoes that hinder ventilation and do not absorb perspiration.
The infection can also develop if you walk barefoot in damp places, and as a result of complications of other infections. Fungal infections of the fingers are often caused by excessive exposure to water and detergents. Humidity generated under artificial nails can also encourage the growth of fungus.

THE TEA OIL (Melaleuca alternifoliate)
The oil has antiseptic and anti-fungal properties and is one of the most effective natural anti-fungal nails. This oil is also used for other skin infections.
If you suffer from fungus on the nails, rub the tea directly to the affected area and leave it for ten minutes. After that, use a toothbrush and gently rub the affected nail.
Before applying the oil, you can dilute it with an equal amount of olive oil and thyme oil. This drug gives excellent results, especially at the beginning of the infection.
Lavender oil has a number of volatile compounds and antiseptic properties that fight any infection and prevent skin irritation.
Mix equal amounts of lavender oil and tea tree oil and warm up a bit. Apply to the nail and surrounding areas two to three times a day, preferably before bedtime. Slip on a pair of thick woolen socks to increase the effectiveness of this drug.
Oregano has antiseptic, antibacterial, antiparasitic , antiviral and antifungal activity. This is one of the most effective oil against fungal infections. Mix two drops of wild oregano oil with one spoon of pure olive oil. Should be applied to the nail once a day for three weeks.
Another natural way to get rid of fungus on the nails is orange oil. All types of oil have antifungal properties and therefore can be used on an infected nail.
With the help of the dropper, apply oil and leave it for at least an hour. The oil can be diluted with a base oil such as grape seed oil.
Since orange oil can cause allergic reactions and can have to side effects, it is preferred that the diluted test oil in a small area of the skin before application to the infected area.
Mix half a cup of baking soda, 4 cups of hot water, a 1/4 cup of peroxide and half a cup of sea salts or bitter. Mix well and add a 1/4 cup of white vinegar.
Dip infected nail in vinegar for a few minutes and then apply the mixture. Cover with a gauze and leave to stand . Repeat the process every 10 hours over four weeks. If the sequence of regular, nail fungus will soon disappear.
ANOTHER REMEDY FROM SODIUM BICARBONATE AND VINEGAR
– sodium bicarbonate (5 tablespoons)
– vinegar (one cup)
Pour the vinegar into a washbowl, immerse your feet in it about 15 minutes and then dry your feet . Add baking soda, put your feet in washbowl again for 15 minutes.
* The vinegar will kill fungus , a soda will prevent the appearance of new ones.
Vinegar is one of the best ingredients that can be used in the treatment of nail fungus. Mix vinegar with hot water in a ratio of 1: 2 in favor of water, soak the affected finger and hold it for 10 – 15 minutes a day.
In the case of skin irritation, add more water to the solution and repeat every other day.
* It is very important that the affected area dries after washing, otherwise, the fungus can spread.
Garlic contains allicin, which has anti-fungal properties and can help with fungus on your nails.Mix garlic oil with an equal amount of white vinegar. Apply the mixture on the nail and cover with an elastic bandage.This mixture can slow down the activity of the fungus within a few hours.
If you can’t find a garlic oil, you can make it yourself so you crush two cloves of garlic and add two tablespoons of olive oil. Allow this mixture to sit for 24 hours before use.
REMEDY FROM GARLIC AND 60 % ALCOHOL (hydrogen peroxide):
– 3 cloves of garlic
– 50 ml 60% alcohol
– cotton swab
Chop the garlic and add 60% alcohol, leave to stand for 24 hours .get a tampon dips it into the solution and apply on the area where the fungal infection is.
APPLE CIDER VINEGAR
Apple cider vinegar is mildly acidic in nature and can help prevent the spread of fungus in the nails. At the same time, apple cider vinegar kills the bacteria.
For this remedy, mix equal parts of apple cider vinegar and water. Soak your finger a day for half an hour, then dry thoroughly.
If the process is repeated regularly for a few weeks, you will notice improvement very quickly.
Another option is antifungal peeling, which you can make by mixing coarsely ground rice with a few tablespoons of apple cider vinegar.
Apply this paste on the affected nail and gently rub the area.This scrub will help in removing dead skin cells and will keep the skin soft.
Listerine mouthwash is used to kill bacteria, but can also be used to treat nail fungus. This is because it contains several compounds and alcohol, acting as a strong antiseptic and keep away harmful bacteria and fungi. Just fill a small container with Listerine mouthwash, vinegar, and undiluted lemon juice. Soak feet 10 – 15 minutes a day, and then gently scrub the affected area with a toothbrush. Repeat the process daily until the infected nail in place do not grow new.
ANOTHER NATURAL REMEDY WITH MIXED OILS
– the oil of walnut (one tablespoon)
– the oil of orange (half spoon)
– the oil from grape seed or olive oil (half spoon)
– cotton wool
Mix the ingredients, and then insert the swab into the mixture and let it steep. Then apply a cotton ball soaked with that mixture and put in the infected nail. Allow to dry nail.
You can also dip your feet in a washbowl of water with 4-5 drops of tea tree oil. Keep your feet in a washbowl to 20 minutes. Do this twice a day.
